HOMAGE TO… AMÁLIA RODRIGUES

Amália Rodrigues is widely recognised as the ‘Queen of Fado’ and one of the most iconic figures in Portuguese music. Born in Lisbon in 1920, Amália’s career spanned several decades, during which she popularised fado both in Portugal and abroad. With her powerful and emotive voice, Amália brought a new dimension to fado, incorporating elements of poetry and popular music. As well as her musical contribution, she is remembered for her talent, charisma and ability to move audiences around the world. In honour of this extraordinary artist, I decided to name my wallet ‘Amália’, celebrating the passion, tradition and soul that Amália Rodrigues brought to Portuguese culture.
